As reported by Klépierre in a press release, part of the investment will be used to increase the retail space of the shopping centre by 5,000 square metres. In addition, the gastronomic and cultural Time Out Market will be installed in the building in 2024.

“The group is continuing to fulfil its commitment of leading the transformation of retail in Spain and in the city of Barcelona. The renovation of Maremagnum means the creation of a unique retail and gastronomic destination,” said Laetitia Ferracci, managing director of Klépierre Iberia.

The shopping centre in Barcelona has a total of 80 shops, a gross leasable area (GLA) of 21,545 square metres, and welcomes around 11.5 million visitors a year.

In addition to Maremagnum, Klépierre also owns other shopping centres in Spain such as Plenilunio, La Gavia and Príncipe Pío in Madrid, Nueva Condomina (Murcia), Meridiano (Tenerife) and Los Prados (Oviedo). It currently operates in a dozen European countries and, as of June 30, 2022, its portfolio had a value of 20.6 million euros.
