No, it’s not just exposed thongs and sheer slip dresses (though we love those looks as well). Men’s boxers are quickly becoming one of the biggest trends of the summer, according to TikTok and Gen Z’s unofficial spokesperson, Olivia Rodrigo. On July 26, Rodrigo shared a Hawaii vacation dump on Instagram, including a photo of herself wearing a pair of blue boxers with the waistband rolled down, which she paired with a black Joah Brown cropped tee, a black baseball hat, white crew socks, and the ever-popular Adidas Samba sneakers, which are getting harder and harder to get ahold of.

The #boxershorts hashtag currently has 51.8 million views on TikTok, with #boxershort falling only slightly behind at 30 million. “For some reason wearing what looks like men’s underwear makes me feel so much more put together,” TikTok user Chloe Mihailo said in a fashion recommendation video that received nearly half a million views back in June. While most videos feature the boxers being worn as shorts, many are also layering their boxers under low-rise pants with labels showing.

One warning if you’re going for the more “authentic” option: Many men’s boxers are designed to open at the fly (for valid reasons), so be careful when sitting or consider adding a stitch or two to keep the flap closed. Happy boxers hunting!
