Turns out we were doing Lululemon wrong. While no one would begrudge us for wearing Align leggings or Fast and Free shorts on the trails, the brand just dropped a made-for-the-mountains line, aptly dubbed Lululemon Hike.
It’s a wide assortment, with 33 total pieces across women’s, men’s, and unisex clothing and accessories designed, first and foremost, to function out there. The materials are intended to be packed, stretched, and flexed (literally and figuratively) as you climb, scramble, hike, or wander to your heart’s content. If you’re the kind of person who likes to be prepared for outside time, this is the collection for you.
Go ahead, take everything with you on that hike (snacks, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, multiple sets of keys, a hat you may or may not keep on, etc.)—there are compartments galore for your belongings. Get hot, then cold, then hot again? In addition to mesh paneling, there are a myriad of zip-on and zip-off components to be your own AC. Some items are even ready for all the elements, with apparel that pulls double duty as swimwear.
But unlike the outdoorsy outfits of yore, these are also abrasion-resistant—which translates into a chafe-free summer for you. Bye, friction! Sayonara, blisters! The only thing that’ll rub you the wrong way while wearing anything in this collection is the fact that you’ll have to take it off at some point.
The color palette is inspired by nature, and we don’t think it’s too dramatic to say that Monet would’ve approved of what will surely become the collection’s signature pattern: a design that can only be described as a glitchy sunrise. The rest of the line features high-visibility colors, from neon green to bright purple, as well as more traditional combos you’d find at your nearest REI.
Of the bunch, our favorite picks are the convertible hiking jogger that comes in a high rise with optional bottoms, and the maroon-colored ripstop jacket with—wait for it—a built-in shoulder bag. We also really need to pause on the cross-body water bottle bag, made just for your Nalgene. Lulu really said hydrate.

Lululemon’s hiking collection is the brand’s first foray into the great outdoors, and another inch toward gorpcore. If you’re not familiar with the trend, it takes its name from the nickname for the trail mix of good ol’ raisins and peanuts, and favors tactical outdoor clothing made by brands like Patagonia, The North Face, and Arc’Teryx. But instead of wearing the items on mountainsides, people are rocking multifunctional cargo pants, hiking boots, ripstop jackets, and neon puffer coats en route to Blue Bottle.
Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner, ASAP Rocky, and—let’s be real—George Costanza from Seinfeld are known gorpcore enthusiasts you’d be joining rank with. Of course, other brands we know and love—like Outdoor Voices and Girlfriend Collective—have items adjacent to the camping-but-make-it-cute trend, if this collection’s price range ($28–$198) is out of your budget.
In a perfect world, you’d have plenty of time to shop Lululemon’s Hike collection. But given the due hype around the line, that’s simply not in the cards; we’re already seeing a handful of styles running out of stock faster than you can add to cart.
